Safety and Performance
"At last - eye-safe straps ...As an ophthalmologist I am delighted
that a manufacturer has come up with an effective luggage strap system that is
also eye-safe. Your high-tension, low stretch rubber straps with loops rather
than metal hooks make a huge contribution to eye safety.
I am sure you are aware that "bungees" are widely used by the armed forces in
all sorts of applications. Over the last 15 years I have seen numerous severe
eye injuries from bungees, almost all resulting in blindness or very serious
visual deficit, with injuries ranging from severe retinal contusion, cataract &
dislocation of the lens to complete rupture of the globe & immediate total loss
of the eye. Interestingly, during the Gulf War, the most serious eye injury I
saw was due to a bungee, not enemy munitions!” All the best,

Dear
Rokstraps,
“I
have recently bought two of your 54" adjustable Strap-It's through MPS - a
motorcycle mail order company here in England. I think they are brilliant and so
much better than the bungees I had been using. Thank you for designing something that is so useful and easy to
use.”

Dear
Rok Straps,
“I
recently used some of your straps to secure cargo on the deck of my sea-kayak,
as I paddled 2,200km down Australia's longest river: the mighty River Murray. I
started off my trip using ordinary rope to secure my gear, which was very time
consuming and fiddly, but when a mate showed me your ROK straps, I got some and
joyfully threw away the rope! I ended up using 4 Flat straps on the front and an
Adjustable on the back.
The straps were fantastic - they were really quick to apply and to release,
they held my gear securely in place (even with large waves washing over the
deck), they were easy to use with cold wet hands, and they didn't scratch my
boat. Thanks for designing quality straps - it's about time the world had
something better than bungee straps!”

Dear
Rok Straps,
“This
winter I did two Northern Ontario snowmobile trips on my 2002 Ski-Doo MXZ800X. I
logged about 3,000km in a variety of conditions from 0 to -35 degrees Celsius.
Snow conditions were unusual with a shallow trail base with numerous exposed
rocks, stumps and washed out creeks. In one 12 hour period we had over 80cm of
snow which literally shutdown all trail systems, even my 1.5" paddle track was
no match for the light powder. My point here is that the trail system had many
rugged challenges this year and both my trip groups had a very aggressive
attitude with an average of 500km/day.
When
travelling in this manner you must take all your gear with you and this is
accomplished with rear seat saddlebags. I have not yet found any manufacturer
that can make saddlebags that will stay attached to the sled during aggressive
riding. This was again demonstrated when all of my sledding partners experienced
problems, imagine turning around and having your bags falling off or dragging
behind the sled or even worse ....completely gone. Each of my buddies
experienced these unfortunate events this year and in past years I too have had
to backtrack as far as 75km to find my saddlebags. The trail fix is always quite
humorous with the installation of 4, 5 or even 6 bungee cords to hold down the
bags and checking them every 10km.
This
season I used one 36" x 25mm ROK Strap to secure my saddlebags and the results
were outstanding. In the past I have used 4 or 5 bungee cords to do the same job
and the results were less than optimal, I had problems with hooks bending open,
hooks gouging the seat, ice build-up on the fabric & bulky end hooks, and
breakdown of the bungee (internal elastic cords breaking). The ROK Straps did
not have any of these problems, hook ends were neat & strong with no sharp
edges, ice build-up was virtually eliminated and elastic/cloth jacket did not
deteriorate or breakdown. The wide 25mm flat strap held my saddlebags secure and
did not let them slip at all, standard round bungees tend to roll and move
around.
By
the end of the trips everyone was asking "Where do we get those straps?”. I am
very impressed with the simplicity and quality of ROK Straps, they are a huge
improvement over the old bungee cord, my only question is why has it taken so
long for someone to do it?”

"I
just purchased four of your (ROK Adjustable) straps. They are by far the best
straps I have ever used. I have a total of six and carry a least two on the bike
at all times.”

"I think this is a wonderful invention. We have a 4WD, a boat and a
ski-doo. The straps we use right now scratch the machines and are very dangerous
and difficult to handle. I would like to purchase a couple of your straps
instead.”
